This follows on from my posting in this thread yesterday when I mentioned Richard Osborne’s selection of his top five Karajan recordings on the National Public Radio site. If, like me, you missed the link on the right hand side of the page to Herbert von Karajan's Symphonic Obsessions then you may wish to follow this through. The address of that page is - www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=89313251The narrative is interesting; but much more interesting and tucked away on the left hand side of the page is a link to a 14 minute interview where Anne-Sophie Mutter is in conversation with NPR’s Tom Huizenga. Here is a heartfelt appreciation of Karajan spoken directly from an outstanding virtuoso musician who worked with him very closely.

Dear David! I suppose that your writing is addressed to Linda, however, thank you, David! I like very much the interview to Anne-Sophie Mutter, that I had the opportunity to admire her to Teatro alla Scala, in a concert conducted by Riccardo Muti ******************************************************************************Rosy

I have just been looking at the postings in this section and I have to say how much I appreciate your kind comments about the website.
When I started it nearly 5 years ago I never imagined that it would become so popular and the visitor numbers over recent months have been quite staggering with yesterday’s total reaching 997. What I find so gratifying in this situation is that there is still so much positive interest in the life and work of Herbert von Karajan.
I am so pleased that everyone is enjoying the Forum which, I have to say, I was a little wary of adding to the site. Its success is proven everyday with articulate high quality postings which are a tremendous addition to the website.
So, may I thank you fellow Forum members for making me very happy and let us hope that when the Karajan Centenary year is over the interest continues and strengthens for the future.
Linda

Ciao Marisa! L'Italiano e` simile allo Spagnolo. Io ho compreso il tuo messaggio( le tue parole). Proviamo con frasi semplici, OK? Quale e` l'Opera o il brano musicale (sinfonia) che ti piacciono di piu`? Quali sono i tuoi gusti musicali? Con simpatia Rosy *****************************************************************************The Italian language is similar to Spanish, I have understood your message, your words. Let's try with simple sentences. What's the Opera or the Symphony that you like most? With sympathy Rosy

Ciao di nuovo (ancora), Marisa! con il traduttore Google o altri, io ho provato ma e` utile solo nel linguaggio generico. Comunque, se tu domandi ,io ti rispondo o chiedo agli altri membri, va bene? ****************************************************************************Ciao again, Marisa, With the Google translator, I've tried, but it's only useful in generic language. However, if you do me the questions, I'll answer with the help of other members. All right? Rosy

I have joined today the forum membership. On the 5th april I was in Hamburg and able to see some tv programs regarding HVK, really those who have been able to see him in person we missed something. But today we have his legacy in records and DVD. Now I'm watching the Beethoben's 9th from 31.12.1977.
But still there is to much to listen to read and to watch!!!.
Regards.
Jorge

Hello Jorge! I agree: we have lost very much, but we have to look for the essence of the Maestro in his Legacy; it's not the same thing, I know it... *****************************************************************************As I've written many times, when I was young, he was working in Milan. I often went to Teatro alla Scala, but I didn't wanted to attend his performans because I felt unwhorty!!!Now, the great missed opportunity makes me melancholic... Linda's Forum is my consolation, because often in the words of the members, I find fragments of the Maestro. Welcome, Jorge, and thank you for being with us! Rosy
