After a long time coming a few weeks ago the Karajan Institute started a Newsletter via e-mail. You can sign up via the website info@karajan.org The Blogs are quite interesting.

Thanks John.
Have the newsletters given any indication about when the Online Archive might be fixed?

Hi Charles
All they are saying is that they are aware of the situation and are dealing with it.

This costs a lot of time and money. At the institute, nobody is interested in maintaining an outdated and rather erroneous database.
The Institute has only the marketing of the name Karajan and the rights to the task. They give licenses and keep their name in the game with more and more new ideas. For example, Dolby atmos, that does not get crowds into the cinema in Europe, but it's the marketing hit of the year. Previously, it was 50 years Easter Festival or the Karajan app It's about sales and earnings, but it's also about transferring the heritage into the new era. Previously, the most beautiful wife, the fastest car, a racing yacht or a jet plane was enough - all with Karajan, of course. Since his death, this does not work anymore, so it needs new attention. And Mr. Röder is thus successful in my view. The side effect is, however, that the many recordings are still playing a major role globally. Since the takeover of the institute management by Mr. Röder a clear jerk in favor of Karajan happened. Which conductor is still so successful in the music business 29 years after his death? So, who needs a database that has at least the sound documents, whether studio recording or illegally published radio recording, so many errors and residues? However, I miss the performances and the newspaper reviews anyway.
