Yes, following on from your comment regarding Eliette, I noticed the site states that:
“The Salzburg Easter Festival would like to thank Eliette von Karajan for her extremely generous support of the special concerts”.
No doubt it would be most interesting to know what the actual reality is here ......
Yes, in addition to 1968, I also attended in 1971 and 1972. However, in 1973 the situation changed so that I had then to start behaving responsibly and settle down.
However, as you have said, next year is very tempting and we have already had the heated debate. I haven’t written it off yet, but if we did go I would want decent seats and also to attend all the events.
Hmm - I’ve just noticed that the BPO and VPO concerts are excluded from the Abonnement subscription price and also that in order to be guaranteed tickets for these two performances, it is necessary to become a Patron of the Festival – cost for dual membership being €600. At a quick estimate then for two people in the second price group, I reckon that we’re looking at a total of around £2,500; the third price group would be around £2,000. The debate continues ......
