In Karajan: Beauty As I See It, 46 minutes in Karajan arrives at his home driving a Porsche. As he does, what is the background music playing at this time? It is truly beautiful and I would be grateful if anyone can tell me what this is.
Many Thanks, John

Hello John
Welcome to the Forum!
The piece of music playing in the background is from the third movement of Beethoven's Symphony No 9

I actually had a musical question from this documentary too. I was curious as to what the piece was we saw being rehearsed briefly with Yehudi Menuhin. The segment we get is small, but I hope someone will be able to identify it. (I don't mean the Strauss waltz Menuhin and Karajan play together, but the orchestral piece).
Thanks.

The rehearsal extract you describe is from the 1965 film directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot of the Mozart Violin Concerto No 5 with Yehudi Menuhin and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Best Wishes Linda
