You may have noticed, on the centenary page on Linda's site, that one of the 'Karajan 2008' events being planned for later this year is a concert on 10th April by the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras in the Royal Festival Hall, London. The choice of programme for this concert is in my opinion really excellent, with each of the three works being performed having been a Karajan speciality: Don Juan and the Four Last Songs by Strauss, and the Eroica. The page for this concert on the Philharmonia's web site can be seen on -

Up until recently there was no mention at all on the page of 'Karajan 2008', but this has now been updated to include the 2008 logo, a link to the Centrum and also a link to an excellent article by Jon Tolansky about Karajan's work with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
In November I did in fact e-mail the Philharmonia to point out the original omissions. In this note I also mentioned that I thought the listings of recommended recordings for the works being performed at the 10th April concert should include references to Karajan's legacy, but this issue has not yet been addressed.
This situation may be slightly ironic since Karajan's 1972 Don Juan was included in the list of recommended recordings for the Philharmonia's concert on 4th March last year -

If you agree with me on this issue then you may wish to consider sending in your own polite reminder to the Philharmonia. The contact is Emma Peters who is a Senior Marketing Manager -
emma.peters 'at' philharmonia.co.uk (I have replaced the at symbol with 'at').
I'll give them a couple of weeks and then possibly write in again myself if no amendments have been made.
It is of course possible that shortly after I have submitted this note to the forum, the Philharmonia's page will be amended, in which case my apologies to yourself and the Philharmonia.
