Has anyone mentioned this before? DG is apparently releasing a "limited edition of the press kit" for 2008, with two CDs and a DVD. Here's the page at the DG site: tinyurl.com/3anrueIt's also described at the following page: tinyurl.com/385vl7And comes with a picture of the cover: It says "including interviews and rehearsal parts," so I take it this is different from the 1CD+DVD package Herbert von Karajan: The Music, The Legend, which was released earlier this year. tinyurl.com/2t8ypaThe contents of one of the CDs and of both DVDs seem identical. However, I don't see any "interviews and rehearsal parts" mentioned as part of the Herbert von Karajan: The Music, The Legend release, and the Karajan 2008 issue is said to be a 2CD+DVD package, not 1CD+DVD, so presumably the other CD in the "Press Kit" will have extras.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH DARKEHMEN!!!
I bought 1 CD+ DVD " The Music, The legend ", limited edition, in November , but I was a little disappointed especially for the pictures quality. ( Please, see my post in DG's Complete works set "...is useful for those who want to the get close to Maestro..-" ).
Now, my hope is that the second 2 CD+ DVD you mentioned is not the same !!! I saw the different cover, however, seemed to indicate that it was the German edition ...
Unfortunately , I agreed whit my shop confidence...so...I aspect... I never bought in internet; I think a good solution....

..............Instead, my cover is different from that shown by darkehmen, and contains 1CD+1DVD+Booklet. Why there are two packages?

Well, the first link that I provided, the one to the DG site, states that it will be 3 discs, and that it will be released April 2008. Presumably, this means that this forthcoming release will be 3 discs, including the promised "bonus" disc, while the editions that have been released so far (such as the one that is currently available at the second link, deutschrock.de), are only 2 discs.
It seems that this forthcoming edition will be slightly different, thanks to the extra disc, despite having the same cover.
I've pre-ordered the April release from amazon.de, and when it arrives, I'll gladly indicate whether it is indeed 3 discs (with the promised bonus disc) or two.

The cover is the one that portrays Karajan lying and supported on an elbow, and the title is " The Music, the Legend ", like mine that I bought in December?? Then, different cover and 1 CD more.............what will contains the CD? ****** ****** Can you explain this to me? : DVDs that I bought a few days ago, we didn't have the Logo featuring products made for the Centenary. They are : Cavalleria e Pagliacci, Das Rheingold, Brahms Sinf. (DG )Why there isn't the Logo? Thank you Rosy

I may have missed something here.
As I understand it, the DG Press kit includes a DVD with various bits on it from other Unitel DVDs, some of these are also advertised as samples on the new releases. One of the pieces is the Suppe Light Calvary Overture, this is from the 'live' new year concert in Berlin 1978.
Are we to assume that the entire 1978 concert is to be released at some stage or have I got this wrong?

Funnily enough, that's one of the few Unitel videos that were previously released on LD that have not, as yet, been scheduled for a DG DVD issue. But perhaps something will turn up later this year...

Hi Waldstein!
The " Logo " is the symbol that distinguishes ( in this case ) the incisions record celebrating the Centenary. Visually you can see Karajan's profile ( what you useas Avatar ) with the phrase " karajan 2008 " Ok?

The 3° CD, it seems contains rehearsal and other interesting (I hope) contents. As soon as I see it with my own eyes, I'll give more detailes informations....... ****** ****** Rosy

The first two interviews, by Joachim Kaiser (in German) and Richard Osborne, were made for a limited and signed edition of the Beethoven symphony recordings in 1977 (of which I have a copy). It was the last record in the LP set. The third interview is in French, which was recorded in 1964 with Micheline Banzet, regarding the Brahms second symphony. In the Vivaldi rehearsal extract, recorded in a VERY resonant church in St. Moritz, his focus at the beginning of the track is rhythmic precision, and the importance not to apply wrong accents in phrases. As usual is with Karajan, the rehearsals are full of pedagogical details. Paul

The reason why I'm writing the umpteenth post, is to clarify the difference between the two package. Since I've them both, I must say that it's unnecessary to buy out what to December: 1st, there isn't Bonus CD, 2nd, it's much smaller, however, on the other hand, it has a lower cost; for the remainder of the CD and DVD are identical!****** ****** Rosy
