The Esater Festival 1976 had the production from Lohengrin, which really was not very emotional, at least for me. The pick of the Festival was the new meeting eachother, between Karajan and Caballe, after the history in the 60,s when Karajan resigned Caballe's contract for Don Giovanni, because of her weitgh, see Caballé's biographie. It is said that Karajan went to the airport to pick up her, and the atmosphere was excellent during the rehersals, a part from the discussion to sing without score as Karajan was insisting or with score as Caballe wanted. She succeded. They perform Verdi's Requiem, and I have to say it was the best I've ever hard. I hope one day the ORF will open the archives to hear again this performance. It was great.

Jorge Thanks for your memory, Jorge! I'm extremely fond of 1967 Verdi's Requiem, Cossotto- Price- Ghiaruov- Pavarotti for many reason you can know instinctlively, one of which, the Luciano Pavarotti's splendid voice. A the beginning karajan contact the good tenor Carlo Bergonzi, then, for various reasons, he was replaced with Pavarotti. It's a good thing that has gone so, because this occasion i fortuitos allowed the young tenor to be internationally known. Karajan's interpretation was masterful. Every time I watch and listen to the DVD, I feel a great emotion. ********************************************************************************I'm sure that the Verdi's Requiem to which to refer, was equally splendid!
