Hope I'm not about to mention what people already know but I've just stumbled upon www.monteverdi.tv which is described on the site as -
"Launched in 2008, MonteVerdi.tv is the first worldwide Internet and digital TV platform for Classical Music. MonteVerdi provides a new dimension of music experience for global music communities. From unique TV programs and documentaries to downloadable audio catalogues, worldwide news, reviews, video clips, CDs, DVDs, books, sheet music, and more. Moreover, MonteVerdi is a platform on which classical music and opera lovers can share their knowledge, enthusiasm and preferences with other devotees around the globe."
I've found that there is a very considerable section devoted to Karajan with the current situation being described as -
"Not only is this the world’s largest collection of quality Karajan VOD movies in one place, this is also the only time that the complete Unitel Karajan catalogue has ever been made available online. Over the coming months we will be rolling out the full 52 titles. Meanwhile, you can find 14 handpicked and reviewed Karajan movies below..........."
www.monteverdi.tv/main/karajan
Free short trailers are available although needless to say payment (by PAYPAL) is required for complete films.
There appears to be an introductory offer of €9.99 for full access to the entire site for 3 months.
As an additional bonus in Karajan Links is a reference to Linda's site -
"Started in 2003 by the British Karajan collector and fan Linda Perkins, this website is an impressive resource for all kind of collector’s items: program books, huge photo gallery, info on life and work, articles, recording lists, album art work, forums etc: an inexhaustible source for every Karajan fan."
Hear! Hear!
Just as I was hoping to start getting out and about a bit in the spring sunshine and this lot surfaces - never mind.
Best Wishes -
David
