Dear All,

in the occasion of the birthday of Herbert von Karajan, a member of youtube, has had the good idea to post some video, in my opinion very interesting. Those that I propose are unpublished video recording, as says John Hunt in Philharmonic Autocrat 1, Karajan Discography, and they were filmed in Paris, on 24th June 1978.

The Berlin Philharmonic and Karajan for some reason agreed to a TV concert in Paris in 1978.

The programme runs for nearly 3 hours and involves Karajan in some very long interviews in between conducting various pieces some of which are on you tube. Unfortunately the programme is in French with no subtitles.

There is a small studio audience which I understand included some famous people including the British Prime Minister Edward Heath whom I understand conducted the BPO on this show although this is not on my copy, sadly neither is Rostropovitch playing the finale of Don Quixote.

The full concert listing can be found in John Hunt's concert register, my favourite bit is Mirela Freni singing a piece from La Boheme and of course Karajan himself at the piano in the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21.

Hello All,

Unfortunately we cannot ever see those beautiful videos, because the member of youtube has removed his account! I'm very sorry for this inexplicable thing. I had contacted him for information, and I must say that he is a kind person and happy to make available to everybody his movies.
