Was the 2nd minuet of the divertimento K 334 on 1 May 1987 performed and cut on the video or was it not performed? Why?
Was it included in the 1967 and 1969?
This reminds of the cuts in the 12/31/85 and the 1/1/87.

as far as i know karajan omits the 2nd minuets when it comes to a performance of k 334 or k 287, the most frequently performed ones by him.
my evidence is that I've a live recording of his with berlin phi. at moscow for k 334 and there also he omits the 2nd minuet, probably for the sake of performance duration.
i also ve his k 287 telemondial concert video recording from japan tour of 1984 where he also omits the 2nd minuet

The K287 is played complete on DG.
K334 is played at the beginning of the videdo "A Profile" by Friedel and I find in it a couple of interesting segments:
Driving the Porsche and greeted by the dog after getting out.
The point made about Karajan not wanting to play the violin growing up vis-a-vis "A Life in Music" on this piece:
While I was studying the divertimento in D (K 334) I realized that parts of it are less good than the B flat divertimento (K 287). The substance of the 2 outer mvts is very weak in comparison, particulary where melodic invention is concerned; and also the enchanting violn solos of the B flat would give the orchestra beter possibilities. Since it is only a change of a number (if program already printed could always be said to be a printing error!) I suggest we alter both the performance and the recording. (p. 321)
Karajan had no doubt that K287 - tarnished, alas, by scholarly evidence of a significant debt to a string quintet by Michael Haydn - is the tauter, wittier, more dramatic work. To judge from his 3 extant recordings, he relished every moment of it. By contrast, all his recordings of K334 have passages that seem strangely disengaged. On the Philharmonia's European tour, K334 was played 6 times, K287 once. (p. 783)
By 1967 he and the BPO could have played more or less anything and still sold out the hall at 3 guineas a seat. (p. 553)
