Thanks halcover1, your post took me to Amazon uk where I picked up a new copy of the concert register - a book I'd been after for a very long time!
For the record, I'm listening to Beethoven 1 BPO 1963 as I type.

I asked John Hunt today why all of a sudden the books have started to appear for sale, he tells me that recently by chance he met a chap who runs a specialist book shop and was prepared to arrange for the re-printing and sale, which is good news for those who had not be able to obtain them before.
On a separate note, John's small flat is full of thousands of CDs, DVDs, Records and books etc. I know that his favourite Opera is Die Frau onhe Schatten by Richard Strauss. He actually has 36 different recordings of this. I thought I was doing quite well with 6 Fidelio's and 17 Heldenleben's but at least these are all conducted by Karajan.
