According to www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=3579 Naxos will take over distribution of the Unitel catalogue (at least in the United States) from 17th November 2009. The article specifically mentions Karajan, but does not give details about the first Karajan DVDs and Blu-Ray discs to be issued by the label. There are still some Karajan Unitel recordings that have not been previously released on DVD or video - the 1967 Brahms 3rd Symphony, the 1971 Mozart Concerto for 3 Pianos, the 1967 Mozart Divertimento K334, the 1973 Tchaikovsky 1st Piano Concerto and the 1975 Wagner Mastersingers overture for instance. I hope that Naxos will give priority to the unreleased recordings, and not just release the videos we already have from DGG/Universal. Incidentally, does anyone know who owns the rights to the 1980 Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique video? The 1993 John Hunt discography says Telemondial, but the 2000 version says Unitel.
