Hello fellow Karajanites,
I'm looking for information about Karajan's interest in Zen Buddhism. I know that he read a book apparently called "Zen Buddhism" and that that lead him to Pater Hugo LaSalle, a Jesuit who thought that Zen practice could be incorporated into Christian worship.
Particularly I was wondering if anyone new precisely what it was Karajan thought on the subject, and how his interest manifested itself in his actual life? Does anyone know the actual book that piqued his interest?
All sources I seem to have found simply say that he was interested in these things, but go into no further detail. Any help much appreciated!
Jim

I know he was a firm believer in reincarnation, and said on several occasions that he wished to come back as an eagle or falcon, so that he could fly over his beloved mountains.
