My favorite Tchaikovsky symphony is the Fourth, and of Karajan's recordings of the work, I love his 1972 EMI and 1976 DG Berlin Philharmonic versions. I never tire of listening to them. However, I think his 1966 DG recording is less than totally committed--at least on the orchestra's part. Just compare the brass playing on that recording with that on the recordings from the '70s--the difference is like night and day! Comments, please!
