One point of interest is that this is the first time (I think) that the entire 1987 New Year's day concert has been released on CDs. The "Gypsy Baron" overture, the Emperor Waltz and Perpetuum mobile were not included on the original LP and CD release. The Emperor Waltz was later issued on a 2CD set of Strauss family performances with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by many conductors but I think that this is the first CD release for the other two works.
