I didn't realise until I saw the list here the HvK recorded this multiple times - like many people the only recording I've got is the (I think) '76 one in the DG cycle. This popped up on YouTube the other day: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9DoLPZfm5gThe quality isn't too great, but I was interested to know which one it might be - if indeed it is a Karajan recording. It's noticeably slower and more varied in tempo in places than the one I've got - sounds quite different, and there's no cymbal in the 4th, either. Thanks.

An interesting posting Dave.
My own impression would be that this is the 1970 EMI recording. Certainly the YOUTUBE timing agrees with that on this EMI version to within five seconds. As you say, about five minutes longer in total than the later DG recording. There’s much that could be said about the magnificent EMI recordings of the 4th and 7th made within a few months of each other in the Jesus-Christus-Kirche. However, perhaps now is not the time in case I’m completely off course with this opinion. Comments and/or disagreements with any of the above - not a problem………
