Hello stuartg! I think you might find imitations, usually not beautiful copies or those "official". I say this as an ex - sic! - restorer of ancient paintings. ******************************************************************************I hope that some of the members may give indications, perhaps the address of some antiquarian Best Wishes Rosy

Thanks Rosy,
I have mass-produced busts of Beethoven Wagner and Verdi that are actually quite nice and were of modest cost. So maybe something of Karajan might be available somewhere.

Of course, Stuart, but I'd like you find something pleasant like other busts that you have. I don't think is easy, but we don't take for losers, ok?
As soon as possible, I will contact my ex colleagues in Florence.
Ciao

Hi Stuart
When the karajan Centrum was in Vienna they had for sale in their shop an excellent bust of HVK, however since the move to Salzburg they do not appear to have a shop anymore niether do they answer e-mails. You could try writing to them but who knows if you will get a response.

Thanks John
I think that when I get a spare moment I will drop them a line - nothing to lose by doing that.

Hello all,
I have one of the miniature busts sold by the old Vienna based Karajan Centrum- it is based on the larger bust by Anna Chromy that I believe stands outside the churchyard if Anif where the Maestro is buried.
I dealt with a chap called Herr Koller over the telephone a couple of years ago, whose English is very good, and placing an order was very easy. It cost about 99 euros, but it is a nice item. They even sent me a CD of the recording of the "Blue Danube" from the 1987 New Year concert. A nice touch!
William.

Hello and welcome to new members Stuart and William I contacted the Vienna based Centrum in March 2005 enquiring about purchasing one of the Anna Chromy busts. I received an email from Meinhardt Keller who said that they were sold out but were expecting new stock in May 2005. The cost would be Euro 94,50 + about Euro 15-20 shipping to the UK. I don't think they ever got any more in stock, as I seem to remember they disappeared from the website shortly afterwards, although I may be wrong. This link may be of interest, although I could see no mention of copies being available for purchase: www.annachromy.com/en/austria/anif.shtmlLinda

Thank you Linda for the welcome and thank you for such a marvelous site dedicated to the maestro!
I will follow the leads and hopefully I'll obtain a bust.
Thanks to you too William. Sounds like Herr Koller's English is better than my German so there's hope!

Hello Linda,
May I also thank you for the welcome and express my gratitude for setting up this excellent website!
Also, hello Stuart. It was Herr Keller rather than Koller, sorry. The busts are of surprisingly good quality for the price. It is heavy but not too big and sits nicely on top of my CD cabinet (well stocked with Karajan recordings, naturally!) For some reason I decided to buy one very shortly after Carlos Kleiber passed away- an event that re-intensified my interest in classical music generally.
Regards,
William
