In the last week or so, the website www.youtube.com/channel/UCuwguaXt2qj58LoWj7HNS9g/videos has added some Karajan live audio recordings. These include a Beethoven 9th Symphony from 31st December 1970 that I had not previously heard, the Budapest concert from 15th October 1972 in much better sound than previous releases (Mozart's 29th Symphony, Wagner "Tristan und Isolde" Prelude and Liebestod and Brahms 1st Symphony), Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony in Lucerne from 1st September 1973 and Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra in Berlin on 8th December 1973. Whoever runs the YouTube channel seems to be adding new recordings (not just Karajan) almost every day. Between us, members of this Karajan forum own a huge number of Karajan live recordings (mainly audio but also video). I wonder if we can find a way to share them so that everyone can access them, without provoking the wrath of Karajan's record companies.

Thank you charlesb. Interesting that the sound of the Beethoven 9th is similar to the DG recording 6 years later, but quite different than the one 6 years earlier.
Does anyone know the extent of Karajan Centrum's live collections that are not available elsewhere?

This would be awesome.
As a newbie collector this would be a dream because I am always searching for live Karajan recordings for my growing collection.
If anyone can help me I would be so thankfull.
Take care

Hi Cherubino, I have sent you a private message on the forum. You need to login to see it, the forum does not forward messages to your email account. I think the answer to my question "I wonder if we can find a way to share them so that everyone can access them, without provoking the wrath of Karajan's record companies" is that we need to set up a youtube channel. I notice that (so far) no-one is trying to take down the recordings on the Belle Ame channel and that other youtube channels like www.youtube.com/channel/UCWZpaXNlZxI8nTlsWGWRhEQ/videos have recordings by living conductors and performers that aren't being removed.

Hi,
I have sent you a private message also and thanks for your reply.
A youtube channel would be great so everyone can hear those recordings.
There is another option like store them on a free hoster like Mega and share the links here but this would be only available to those who are registered here.
Perhaps both option would be fine (with some extras for registered board members on a free hoster).
Take care!
