Have you noticed that the official Karajan web site (www.karajan.org) has been completely changed ? While the new presentation is certainly more attractive, I believe that the data base search they had on the previous version was much better, allowing you to find out (for example) all the performances for a given work or given in a specific town with exacts dates ...while the new site does not allow much sorting. May be you could investigate the possibility of implementing on your site their former data base ? Just an idea !

I have agree that the new karajan.org site's database is, well...inadequate, to put it mildly.
I believe Robinson obtained most of the info for his videography directly from the previous database, which was fairly complete, with perhaps just a few omissions here and there.

The Centrum database was based on the work of John Hunt and in fact his work was acknowledged on the first version of their web site.
His books are an invaluable resource:
"PHILHARMONIC AUTOCRAT 1"Discography (2000) "PHILHARMONIC AUTOCRAT 2"Concert Register (2001)
I thoroughly recommend them

John Hunt's books are still available and they are the ultimate resource. Yes, Robinson cites Hunt as the primary source of his own discography in the updated version of his book. I'm not sure if Robinson includes any information that Hunt lacks. He might, seeing as the book just came out. There are a few small errors in Robinson's discography in the listing of DG catalogue numbers, but overall, it seems thorough. One misses the great "search" feature of the karajan.org database, though...

Hi Linda, I agree that it is impossible to start all over the data base that existed in the old "official" web site. I was just thinking that you migt have some contacts with the people who were taking care of the old version and ask them if they could give you that data base and the search tool which was available with it. Or simply suggest to them to come back to that search engine (I posted a note asking for it on the site but did not get any feedback yet ?)

Sorry Henri but unfortunately I do not have any contacts with the people who have the old database. I do know what you mean about the new version and I cannot understand why they changed it as the original database was much more detailed and user friendly.

I think the new website has been updated and, having searched the concerts page, more thorough than in January.

HI Prahcello! Yes, but if you write to them, for example on the discography and/or otherwise, no one will respond! I hope that over the time will improve the relationship with the admirers of Maestro °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°Best Wishes Rosy

Then, I noticed that the English version is not updated! I would like to reserve the money from 5 Euro; of course, I'm buying on the Site of Austrian Post, however, it's not right that a multilingual website isn't update in all the languages that proposes, and not only in the official language!!! P.S. I tried to write in English, German and even in Italian, to addresses indicate; no answer. It's disheartening!!! Rosy

The Karajan Institute is a disgrace, you would think that with all the money being generated by the CD and DVD sales this year we could have had something better.
I will visit the Institute in August when I go to Salzburg and find out first hand what is going on.
My bet is that it will close down in 2009.

What sadness, John! Exactely 20 years after the death of Karajan! It's our duty to keep alive his memory especially for younger generations; they don't have many beautiful thing to make their life rich and full! The Maestro would be saddened... °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°Rosy

I'd say calling them would be a safe bet(?).
When I was in Salzburg for the Easter Festival, I wanted to visit the archive of the Centrum, and emailed them for an appointment. Never got a reply.
Next time I'm there, I think I'll call them, and grill them for not replying to people, and try to get an appointment at the same time.

John and Prahcello,
Why?
As they arrived at this unfortunate situation? Do you know or suppose it?

Hello All Have you seen? They have renewed the Karajan Official Website, but only the section in German language. Between news, Eliette also has a Website, only in German. There is the link in Karajan Startsite. I wonder if it works now! Would be useful to ask for news of the video of the Coronation Mass by Mozart and Te Deum, by Verdi, conduceted by Karajan and celebrated in the Vatican by Pope Paul VI, on 20th May 1967. I want to deepen this research at the RAI; unfortunately, in the past I have not obtained any result! Here is the address: www.karajan.org/jart/prj3/karajan/main.jart?reserve-mode=active&rel=de********************* Ciao Rosy
