First, let's improve!
" I don't spend time reading novels or adventures. Instead J study because there's more to learn. This leads me to seek the company of people who can teach me something: doctors, scientists, theachers, friends, who, in some field, is better than I. I can impose me, but if I find someone better than me, then became his slave!"
Herbert von Karajan ********************************************************************************* He said of:....
On Toscanini: " Toscanini isn't never been at easy with Beethoven. He play the "Nona" correctly, so wild, but something was lost. He knew it and beating!"
Herbert von Karajan ********************************************************************************* Speaking of modern directors
On directors of the Opera: "I've seen obscene things. The " Butterfly " in an European brothel. A French version of " Das Reingold "in which the "Ondine ", dancing at the channel, dressed like dancers from the " can-can "! These directors, feel like a middle noise. They just want to create scandal"

He Told him :
Walter Legge :former head of the " EMI ":
" Assist to his rehearsals, see him tackle a piece for the first time with the Orchestra, is a grand experience. First, he law all at once, then corrects. I don't ever heard raise his voice during a rehearsal. Almost he don't say a word. Everything is done with gesture. He knows exactly what he wants and he has this strange, quiet " autorevolezza "*

The Maestro was fond image..........
......... " The Orchestra can be compared to a flight of birds : this idea has always fascinated me. A cloud of 300 birds , who obey the same will , without a visible leadership. Their movement perfectly coordinated and great Beauty ".
Hebert von Karajan
********************************************************************************
I like to write these details, because they can be enlightening to enter the mentality of the Maestro. I've notice that, often, in his speeches, there are, as leitmotif , open spaces and boundless; freedom of movement and freedom of thought. All this, sealed by rules respect for one's neighbour and Nature!

A cornar of Paradise, the " Adagio " of the Ninth Symphony :
****************************************************************************
... " see........ the crescendo is concluded, continue to play piano, without the crescendo. Stay on the piano, but on, with even greater expression! I might have the " scope " precedente...........it's the cut between DO and FA . Continue on DO, I's important! ...........bitte! ".................

Willy Boskovsky
About Great Conductors
..."Karajan was another musician who showed the utmost concentration. Sport, elegant, it was a joy to make music with him . Everything want with a swing and enormous vitality"

I completely agree, Alexander! in fact I wrote that very significant phrase in "Karajan Lovers" to give to our new friends an explanation about the doggedness of some critics.. ********************** Rosy

Franco Ferrara, great conductor, said about him: After Maestro Ferrara drawn up a kinf of "report" including the best conductors: "Karajan. He is 77 years old, 4 more than me; he is the most sincere, the biggest of all. There are many others that I should mention, because they are good, but Karajan is greatest, especially in Opera, in which he is peerless!"Of course, the Maestro Ferrara was referring to contemporary interpreters. From newspaper La Repubblica, of 31st August 1985 _____________________________________ You think that Karajan became nervous when he knew that in the concert hall Ferrara was there to listen to him! ********************* Rosy

Hello All, I like to remember this little phrase of the Maestro: "When the rehearsals went well, when even the weather conditions are suitable, when the concert concludes and all the difficult solos are behind us, I feel that the audience breathers with the Orchestra, then I feel a vertigo that you cannot immagine!"********************** Rosy
